Imelda LapthorneImelda Lapthorne Assistant Principal
I have been working in the field of international education for eight years and love working with children in multicultural environments. I have worked in Taiwan, Italy and for the last 6 years in China. I believe that the ability to speak a second language is a vital skill needed for success and confidence in today’s international environment.
Giving a child the chance to master a second language at a young age is one of the best gifts a parent can give their child. That’s why I believe that KinStar, with its bilingual curriculum, gives its students a head start in life.
We are looking forward to a great year at KinStar!

James Helbringer
I have spent over 12 years learning and studying the art of teaching. I have taught at a public university in Buffalo, New York; a prep-school in a suburb of Buffalo; public schools in the inner-cities of Buffalo/Las Vegas/Houston (student taught and observed); a public school in the inner-city of Oakland; an international school in Caracas, Venezuela; a private school in Santiago, Chile; and a private university in Santiago.
The environments have changed but my passion for teaching and learning has remained intact.
I use various teaching/learning methods to reach the different realities each student enters the classroom with in order to offer them the opportunity to forge their own self-identity, to create their own meaning, to construct, to invent, to leave a tangible mark in the world.
I bring to teaching and to coordinating curriculum an uncompromising belief in the capacities of the students, the teachers, the administration, the parents, and myself, and a commitment not only of time and energy, but of attention, effort and intelligence. We will work together to create classrooms where learning is treasured and where reading and writing are vital activities of everyday.
