CSL Introduction

    The CSL curriculum is designed for Chinese as a Second Language learners. Kinstar has chosen the Renmin Educational Publishing House for our Chinese textbooks. We hope that our CSL students can reach the same Chinese level as a native speaker.

    The KinStar Chinese teaching plan is made according to the which is given by the Chinese Ministry of Education. It includes four main learning keys:    

Goal 1:To learn Chinese Pinyin and how to write Chinese characters. Through learning the Chinese language, students also learn about Chinese history and culture.
Goal 2:  Gain confidence in learning Chinese and to improve the ability of expressing oneself in writing.  
Goal 3:  Using Chinese to communicate.
Goal 4:  To build student’s character and virtues and to teach them how to appreciate arts.

    To help CSL students we use the methods below

Goal 1:      Small group sessions, to teach students one by one.
Goal 2:     During Chinese lessons, teachers use visual aids and other materials to help students enjoy learning about Chinese language and culture.
Goal 3:    Supplementary material includes “ the Analects of Confucius”, “Tang poems”, “Song poems” to teach a variety of Chinese well know traditional poems to the students.
Goal 4:    We give weekly and monthly tests to monitor students progress. These tests also help teachers adjust the learning progress for students, as needed.
